•Deregulation
Since deregulation, the way power is generated and delivered has been broken down into three components:

1. Generation The power plants.
2. Transmission and Delivery (TDSP) is getting the power delivered to your home or business. Companies, such as Centerpoint, make sure you are getting power delivered to your home. The TDSP takes care of you when you have a service problem. They are also referred as the "POLES AND WIRES COMPANIES". They own and serived the poles and wires to your home or business.
3. Retail Electric Provider (REP's) are the "gas stations" you buy your power from. The REPS do not own or provide physical service to your home or business. There is no added safety or reliability by staying with the old REP. Electricity is all the same. There is no reason to pay more for electricity than you have to. |
